Hailing from a creative family, Henry Luther studied horticulture at Ohio State University — an ideal combination for a floral designer. Henry has been with Chota Falls Estate for 10 years, enjoying the fact that each bride and each event is different from the one before. He especially looks forward to the expression on a bride’s face when she first peeks at his custom-crafted florals and decor.
One wedding in particular stands out to Henry. The bride had requested a natural, woodsy look to the floral arrangements and decor. “I searched all my favorite thrift shops and antique stores for just the right touches,” he says. The result? Terrariums with small forest animals made of clay, combined with green moss and lichen. But the most memorable creation was the little flower girl’s fairy wings, handmade from large fern fronds and other greenery. As Henry recalls, “She was so thrilled, she wore them the entire event.”
Henry works with his wife, Lawanna, and another important woman in his life: his sister, Arlene.
